Data Protection & Privacy

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 2026

At Apollo Diagnostic Center ("Apollo", "we", "us", or "our"), safeguarding your personal and medical information is our highest priority. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, protect, and disclose your data when you use our clinical laboratory services, website, and home collection facilities in Nepal.

1. Information We Collect

To provide you with accurate diagnostic and pathology services, we collect the following categories of information:

  • Personal Identification Information: Name, date of birth, gender, marital status, and government-issued identification (when mandated for specific tests like PCR).
  • Contact Information: Phone numbers, email addresses, and residential address (specifically for home collection dispatches).
  • Medical & Health Data: Referring physician details, clinical history provided during test requisition, biological samples (blood, urine, swabs), and the resulting diagnostic data generated by our laboratory.

2. How We Use Your Information

We process your data strictly within the parameters of providing healthcare services. Your information is utilized to:

  • Process biological samples using our Laboratory Information System (LIS) and generate accurate pathology reports (e.g., CLIA, PCR, Flow Cytometry).
  • Communicate test results directly to you or your designated referring physician via secure channels (Email, WhatsApp, or direct portal access).
  • Schedule appointments, process billing, and manage home collection logistics.
  • Ensure internal quality control, calibration adherence, and medical audits in line with NPHL 'A' Grade accreditation standards.

3. Data Protection and LIS Security

Apollo Diagnostic Center operates a highly secure, bidirectional Laboratory Information System (LIS). To protect your health information against unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction, we implement:

  • Encryption: Digital diagnostic reports are generated and transmitted using secure protocols.
  • Access Control: Only authorized medical technologists, pathologists, and administrative staff with verified credentials can access your medical records.
  • Robotic Automation: Our closed-tube robotic processing significantly limits human handling of samples, intrinsically protecting patient confidentiality by relying on barcode identification.

4. Sharing of Information

We treat your medical records with the utmost confidentiality. We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We may disclose your information only under the following circumstances:

  • Authorized Healthcare Providers: We share your diagnostic reports directly with the physician or medical facility that authorized or requested the test, provided you have given consent.
  • Legal & Regulatory Compliance: We are obligated to report specific infectious diseases (e.g., specific viral loads, positive STD screens, notifiable diseases) to the National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL) and the Ministry of Health and Population as required by Nepalese law.

5. Your Rights as a Patient

You maintain rights regarding the data we hold about you, including:

  • The right to request a copy of your diagnostic reports and laboratory data.
  • The right to request corrections to any inaccurate personal details in our registry.
  • The right to designate a proxy (family member or doctor) authorized to receive your results on your behalf.

6. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect technological advancements in our laboratory, changes in Nepalese healthcare regulations, or updates to our service operations. Any modifications will be published on this page with an updated "Effective Date."
